Working Remotely is Here to Stay

According to Made in CA, as of May 2021, 20% of Canada’s workforce worked remotely. Since then, many have returned to the office but many still remain at home part-time, if not full-time.

Statistics also show that people are enjoying the flexibility of working from home and with less commuting to and from work. There is more time for family, fun, or other activities.

So, if working from home is looking permanent for you, there are some things you can do to improve your productivity, creativity, and focus.

  1. Create a dedicated workspace. You’ll get much more work done if you have a quiet place to work where you can avoid distractions.

  2. If you’re looking to create a space within a space, a murphy bed just might be the solution! With a murphy bed, you can have an office during the day and still have a bed for rest at night.

  3. Create a schedule and set boundaries. A great way to schedule your time effectively is by time blocking. To get started, first, create a list of all the tasks that you need to complete during the day and assign a specific block of time for each task (don’t forget to block off some time for breaks). Make sure that the blocks of time are realistic and manageable.

  4. Having clear boundaries between work and personal time is important for staying productive and focused. Make sure the family knows what times you are not to be disturbed.

  5. Utilize your technology to help stay organized. There are many apps out there to help you manage your time and tasks such as Google Keep, Trello, and Evernote. Apps like these can help you create to-do lists, set reminders, and keep detailed notes.

  6. Last but definitely not least, make your space your own. Fill your space with things that bring you joy. Whether it’s plants, photos, or bright colours, surrounding yourself with personal items will boost those endorphins and allow creativity to flow freely.
